We know applying to college can be overwhelming. Simplify the process by putting our application essay strategies to work.
Our two-day workshops are capped at 12 students to ensure each student receives personalized attention. We offer a focused, step-by-step process that includes:
Prior to Workshop
The first challenge students face when writing application essays is simply deciding what to write about. Does it make sense to write about the time you got lost in a Florida swamp, or how about the time you built a robot? To help sort through the student’s myriad experiences, one of the Application Jumpstart leaders will meet with each student prior to the workshop to identify two essay topics and create an outline for each essay. We’re happy to meet at the student’s home in the Austin area, a coffee shop, or the Griffin School.
Activities and Accomplishments Worksheet
Students will be provided an online form on which they list all activities and accomplishments from high school. The worksheet should be completed before the workshop begins.
Workshop Day One (Saturday)
Students write and revise two college essays using the outlines generated prior to the workshop. Each student will work with the Application Jumpstart leader who conducted their interview, though all three leaders are available for assistance. The workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes a half-hour lunch. Light snacks will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own lunches.
Workshop Day Two (Sunday)
Students create their résumé and activities list using the worksheet completed prior to the workshop. Students also organize their finished college essays, résumé, and activities list in a digital folder. The workshop runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes a half-hour lunch.
Workshop Price: $395.00
